What we do with your email.
Who we are.
Guy Feeney, trading as GoInvest, is responsible for your data (the “data controller”). You can write to guy@goinvest.ie.
What we keep.
When you sign up, GoInvest stores your email address and which updates you chose. We also record when you agreed, when you confirmed, and when you unsubscribed. To stop abuse, we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for a day or two after you sign up.
We use this only to send the updates you asked for. We never share the email address you use for updates with a bank or broker. This site does not set cookies or use analytics, and our hosting provider keeps standard server logs of visits.
Why we can use it.
You gave us your consent, and you can take it back at any time by unsubscribing. After you unsubscribe, we keep a short record because we have a legitimate interest in showing that we honoured your request. The same interest covers the short-lived anti-abuse check.
How it works.
We send a confirmation email first. That link lasts three days. After you confirm, we write only when something you asked about changes. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
How long.
If you do not confirm, we delete the address after seven days. Once you confirm, we keep it until you unsubscribe. After that we keep your email address and the date you unsubscribed for two years, so we can show your request was honoured. A bounce or a spam complaint stops mail the same way.
Who else handles it.
Service providers host the site, store the list, and send our email. They act only on our instructions.
The list is stored in the United Kingdom, our email provider keeps its records in the United States, and the site is hosted in the United States.
Some of these providers store or process data in the United States. We rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the EU’s standard contractual clauses to protect it. The United Kingdom is covered by an EU adequacy decision.
Your rights, and how to stop.
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, a correction, or deletion. You can also ask us to restrict how we use it, object to it, ask for it in a portable format, or withdraw your consent. Giving us your email is optional, and we make no automated decisions about you. We will reply within one month.
